Peter Obi Slams Rivers LG Elections as "Mockery of Democracy"

Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and Labour Party's 2023 presidential candidate, condemned the recent Rivers State local government elections as a "mockery of democracy." Obi criticized the appointment of Sole Administrators to oversee the elections, labeling it as an illegitimate move that undermines democracy. The election results saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning 20 out of 23 local government areas, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured three.

Obi, along with other opposition figures, denounced the election process, warning against the dangerous precedent of disregarding the rule of law for political gains.
