Salah Becomes First African with 50 Champions League Goals

On Wednesday night, Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool forward, made history by becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League. He surpassed the previous record held by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Salah reached this milestone during Liverpool's 4-0 victory against Galatasaray in the Round of 16 second leg tie. He scored his 50th goal with a trademark curl shot into the top corner in the 62nd minute of the match.

Salah's record includes 47 goals scored for Liverpool and two goals for Basel, as well as one for Roma, allowing him to overtake Drogba's previous African record of 44 goals. The Egyptian captain will aim to extend his tally as Liverpool prepares to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals in April.
