Salah Becomes First African to Score 50 UCL Goals

On Wednesday night, Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian captain of Liverpool, made history by becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League. He achieved this milestone during Liverpool's 4-0 win against Galatasaray in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie.

Salah reached the landmark in the 62nd minute with a signature curled strike into the top corner. This achievement allowed him to surpass the previous record held by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, who scored 44 goals in the competition.

Salah's tally includes 47 goals scored while playing for Liverpool and two while at Basel, as well as one during his time at Roma. He will aim to extend his goal tally further when Liverpool faces Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-final stage in April.
