Dangote Refinery Boosts Fuel Supply to Lagos and Beyond

Fresh petroleum product cargoes are entering major coastal terminals in Lagos, Warri, and Port Harcourt as marketers increase the supply of petrol, diesel, aviation fuel, and cooking gas across Nigeria. This influx is expected to improve product availability and enhance competition in the downstream market, where the Dangote Refinery has become a key source of locally refined fuel.

A tanker position report from Petroleumprice.ng indicated that approximately 219,000 metric tonnes of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Jet A1, and butane were recorded in these markets from September 14 to 20, 2026. Notable vessel movements include UM Balwa, which carried 20,000MT of diesel loaded at the Dangote Refinery and was positioned at New Oil awaiting clearance since arriving on September 9.

Additionally, Ashabi was listed with 15,000MT of Jet A1 and 10,000MT of diesel for Ardova and CITA, also loaded at the Dangote Refinery. Another vessel, SL Aremu, transported 26,500MT of aviation fuel for Sahara, sourced from the same facility.

Further supply boosts are anticipated from Matrix Pride with separate cargoes of 20,000MT and 25,000MT of PMS.
