Women’s Role Crucial in Africa’s Digital Infrastructure

During an International Women's Day session, Dr. Nadu Denloy, former Group Managing Director of Telnet Nigeria, asserted that enhancing women's involvement in Africa's digital infrastructure is crucial for future economic growth.

She noted that Africa's digital transformation relies on investments in technology, including fiber networks, data centers, and cloud platforms, while also addressing the need for a skilled talent pipeline. Dr.

Denloy highlighted that the continent's infrastructure development must extend beyond hardware to include human capital and interconnectivity. She pointed out that with a population of 1.4 billion, the demand for digital services is rising, yet infrastructure capacity remains insufficient.

Dr. Denloy called for women to take on leadership roles in technology and infrastructure projects, arguing that gender inclusivity should not be viewed merely as a diversity objective but as a critical component for ecosystem growth.

She emphasized the importance of mentorship and knowledge sharing to strengthen the industry and support younger professionals.
