Pastor Omakwu Appeals to Wike Over Jabi Lake Privatization

Senior Pastor Sarah Omakwu of the Family Worship Centre in Abuja made an emotional appeal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, urging him to stop plans to allocate Jabi Lake for private development. In a widely circulated video, Omakwu was seen kneeling and imploring the minister to preserve the recreational area, highlighting its importance for social and economic activities within the community.

She stated, "We cannot fight the minister; the FCT cannot go on its knees for the motherland," and emphasized that the land should not be sold to anyone. This appeal comes as the FCT administration is reportedly entering a partnership with a private firm to upgrade facilities and boost tourism in the area.

Omakwu warned against restricting access to public spaces, stressing the need to maintain such areas for the benefit of the community.
