Police Warn of Terrorist Surveillance on Schools

The Nigeria Police Force has alerted the public about intelligence suggesting that terrorists and informants are surveilling schools, NYSC orientation camps, and places of worship for possible coordinated attacks. This warning comes as the 2026/2027 academic session begins.

The police have noted the movement of armed elements from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau. The NSCDC has responded by enhancing its intelligence network around educational institutions.

In Northern Nigeria, families are reportedly selling properties and paying ransoms to secure the release of abducted relatives, with an estimated N7.78 billion paid in ransom between July 2025 and June 2026. SBM Intelligence reports that 7,825 individuals were abducted nationwide during this period.

Additionally, the police have recovered a second body from the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife, linked to the shooting of Accord Party chieftain Olalekan Oyeyemi, who has since been buried in Osogbo.
