Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Traffic Chaos from New Crash

On September 17, motorists and commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway experienced significant delays due to a fresh multiple-vehicle crash at Otedola Bridge, which worsened the gridlock caused by a previous accident at Kara Bridge. The latest incident involved three trucks and left the carriageway impassable, complicating an already chaotic traffic situation.

Three individuals were rescued, while one person remained trapped for hours during rescue operations. Commuters reported spending between 10 to 12 hours on the road, with some abandoning their vehicles.

Chega Olubodun, a commuter, shared that he took over six hours to travel from Ojota to Berger and did not reach home until midnight. Another commuter, Oge-chi, trekked from Ojota to Warewa after her bus made a U-turn, and Olufemi paid N4,000 for a motorcycle ride due to the gridlock.

The congestion extended beyond the Long Bridge towards Magboro, affecting inner routes and stranding hundreds of passengers.
