Traffic Chaos on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Amid Repairs

Motorists and commuters using the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are experiencing significant delays and worsening gridlock due to ongoing repairs on the Kara Bridge. Reports indicate that traffic has extended from the Lagos State secretariat to Kara Bridge, affecting routes as far as Ogunnusi Road and Omole Bus Stop.

Many motorists, including Kenneth Kayode, have expressed frustration, noting that they have been stuck in traffic since early morning, unable to move. Kayode highlighted that traffic management personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) were notably absent during peak hours, which contributed to the chaos.

He recalled that government officials were present the previous day, effectively managing traffic. Other motorists echoed similar sentiments, calling for improved traffic management and a continuous presence of officials until the repairs are completed.

Efforts to contact Olalekan Bakare-Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, for comments on the absence of personnel were unsuccessful.
