Motorists in FCT Demand Action on Rising Petrol Prices

Motorists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expressing significant concern over the unstable increase in petrol prices, which are currently being sold by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at rates between N875 and N880 per litre. This fluctuation has led to many private car owners parking their vehicles due to the unaffordable cost of fuel.

Civil servants, including Mr. Halima Khalid, have reported severe hardships, stating that they struggle to afford transport to work and basic necessities.

Khalid emphasized the need for government intervention to stabilize fuel prices, which she believes would also help stabilize food prices. Another civil servant, Mr.

Umar Sani, noted that the increased transport fares have made it difficult for people to commute, leading to a situation where many are left stranded at bus stops. The overall sentiment among motorists is one of frustration and a call for a roadmap from the government to resolve these issues and prevent further economic hardship.
