FCT Residents Face Hardship Amid Rising Petrol Prices

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are experiencing significant hardships due to rising petrol costs, which have surged five times in one month. Fuel prices at various stations range from N875 to N1,383, with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) selling fuel at N1,261.

This increase has forced commercial drivers, like Mr. Nuhu Sani, to adjust transport fares upward, impacting commuters, including civil servants like Mr.

Grace Okek, who report that their monthly budgets have nearly doubled. The situation has led to fewer commercial vehicles operating, leaving many stranded at bus stops.

Motorists such as Mr. Musa Abdullahi express frustration over the rising costs affecting not only transport but also the prices of goods.

Economic analyst Dr. Tund Adebayo emphasizes the need for government intervention to stabilize fuel prices and alleviate the burden on citizens.

Business owners, including Mr. Mari Uzor, note that increased transport costs are driving up food prices, further straining household budgets.
