MTN Compensates Subscribers with Airtime Credits for Service Issues

MTN has initiated the process of crediting eligible subscribers with airtime compensation following poor network service recorded in various locations. Customers may receive amounts between N20 and N1,436 based on their usage and the quality of service in their area.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has identified specific local government areas (LGAs) where mobile network operators, including MTN, failed to meet quality-of-service standards. Subscribers qualify for compensation if they experienced poor service in an affected LGA and made at least one billed outgoing activity during the relevant period.
The compensation is automatic, meaning no application is necessary. The NCC's list includes affected LGAs across states such as Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Edo, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Osun, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.
MTN clarified that this compensation pertains to network quality issues recorded between February and April 2026 and is separate from complaints about data depletion.
