MTN Nigeria Achieves 99.85% Local Workforce Milestone

MTN Nigeria has reported that 99.85% of its workforce consists of Nigerians, and the company has created over two million direct and indirect jobs through its trade partners and agents during its 25 years of operations. Ije Jidenma, chairman of the Nigeria–South Africa Chamber of Commerce, made this announcement at the Chamber’s August Breakfast Meeting held on Thursday at Eko Hotel, Lagos, themed “Building Local Content Together: 25 Years of Shared Growth.” Jidenma described MTN as exemplary in advancing Nigeria’s local-content policy, which emphasizes Nigerian participation, local procurement, and talent development.

She noted that MTN's economic impact extends to small and medium-sized enterprises and urged other businesses to adopt similar approaches to foster shared prosperity. Jidenma emphasized that the ultimate goal of local content should be sustainable capacity development within Nigeria, including knowledge and technology transfer and meaningful employment opportunities.
