MTN Nigeria 2025 Sustainability Report: ESG Progress Highlights
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc filed its 2025 Sustainability Report on 4 May 2026, covering the company's environmental, social, and governance performance for the year. The report, now in its seventh consecutive year, discloses metrics across emissions reduction, network coverage, workforce diversity, community investment, and tax contributions.
MTN Nigeria Communications Plc has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, marking the seventh consecutive year of such disclosures and the third consecutive year of voluntary adoption of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (IFRS S1 and S2).
On the environmental side, the company reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 6.4% against its 2021 baseline and received a CDP rating of 'B-' for Climate Change and 'C' for Water Security. Some 33.6% of top suppliers by spend have pledged to the company's net zero commitment.
Socially, MTN Nigeria expanded network coverage to 93.7%, a 0.7 percentage point increase. Female workforce representation rose to 43.4%, up 2.0 percentage points. The company invested ₦2.7 billion in Corporate Social Investment initiatives, reaching over 534,448 individuals.
On governance and growth metrics, MTN Nigeria achieved a Reputation Index of 80.2% against a 75.0% benchmark and an ESG GPS sustainability rating of 3.7 out of 4.0 from Risk Insights. Local supplier procurement stood at 62.0% of total spend. The company paid ₦878.7 billion in taxes, levies, and duties, representing a 15.0% increase year-on-year.
