MTN Foundation Invests N32bn in Nigeria's Social Programs

MTN Foundation has disclosed an investment of N32 billion in social intervention programs across Nigeria, benefiting 32 million people since its establishment in 2004. The foundation's initiatives, managed by Joseph Akpata, focus on critical areas such as education, healthcare, and youth development.

A significant priority is the fight against substance abuse among young people, prompting the launch of an anti-substance abuse program in 2019. This initiative aims to reduce the number of first-time drug users through advocacy and educational interventions.

The program has already reached 50,400 students and trained 1,500 teachers across Nigeria. Mosun Belo-Olusoga, chairperson of MTN Foundation, emphasized the organization's commitment to safeguarding the future of Nigerian youth by equipping them with knowledge and support.

The foundation plans to train an additional 250 teachers and extend its reach to tertiary institutions, enhancing grassroots advocacy and collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps and drug law enforcement agencies.
