Nigeria's Creative Economy Committees Inaugurated by Musawa

On April 21, 2023, in Abuja, Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Tourism, inaugurated four draft committees focused on building Nigeria's creative economy infrastructure. These committees are tasked with developing policies, strategies, and frameworks to enhance the sector, which currently contributes only 2-3% to the national output.

Musawa emphasized the need for a coherent governance framework to eliminate fragmentation and clarify responsibilities within the creative economy, which is crucial for national development. The minister set ambitious goals of contributing N100 billion to Nigeria's GDP and creating two million jobs for young Nigerians by 2030.

The committees are expected to submit a work plan within 90 days and will provide quarterly public briefings. Ikenna Nwosu, CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, welcomed the initiative, highlighting the potential of the creative economy to drive innovation, create jobs, and strengthen Nigeria's global influence.
