Musawa Launches Committees to Boost Nigeria's Creative Economy

On April 21, 2026, Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Tourism, inaugurated four draft committees in Abuja to build Nigeria's creative economy infrastructure. These committees are tasked with developing policy strategies, engaging stakeholders, and designing a financial framework to support the creative sector.

Musawa emphasized the importance of the creative economy, which currently contributes only 2-3% to the nation's output, and highlighted the need for coherent governance to eliminate fragmentation and clarify responsibilities. The committees aim to contribute N100 billion to Nigeria's GDP and create two million jobs for young Nigerians by 2030.

They are expected to submit a work plan within 90 days and provide quarterly public briefings. Ikenna Nwosu, CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, welcomed the initiative, noting the potential of the creative economy to drive innovation, create jobs, and enhance Nigeria's global influence.
