Nwosu Condemns Jingir's 'Infidels' Comment on Politics

Uche Nwosu, a former governorship candidate in Imo State, condemned remarks made by Sheikh Sani Jingir, a prominent Islamic cleric from Plateau, who referred to non-Muslims as "infidels" while advocating for Muslim-Muslim presidential tickets. Nwosu issued a statement in Abuja on Monday, describing Jingir's comments as divisive and potentially harmful to Nigeria's religious harmony.

Jingir made his remarks during an event attended by All Progressives Congress governors, including Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, where he expressed support for Muslim-Muslim tickets ahead of the 2027 elections and praised President Bola Tinubu for his 2023 election strategy. Nwosu emphasized the need for religious leaders to foster tolerance and coexistence, warning that such statements could create unnecessary religious tension.

He called on the Federal Government to take action against public utterances that threaten national unity and urged both Christians and Muslims to maintain their longstanding relationships despite provocative comments.
