Peter Obi Raises Concerns Over State Police Bill

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), issued a statement on Friday regarding the ongoing debate over the passage of the state police bill in the National Assembly. He commended the disorderly legislative process and raised concerns about the political misuse of the bill, marking it as a significant legislative milestone that addresses a long-standing demand from the Nigerian people.

Obi argued that Nigeria's highly centralized police structure is fundamentally unsuitable for the country's vast diversity and complexity. He advised that the establishment of local security outfits should involve greater community participation.
