My constituency under siege – Katsina assembly chief whip

The Chief Whip of the Katsina State Assembly, Dikko, expressed grave concern during a plenary session about the siege of his Matazu constituency by bandits. He revealed that the bandits had taken control of eight out of ten wards in the area, instilling fear among residents and preventing farmers from accessing their farmlands.

In the past two days alone, at least 12 farmers were killed while working on their farms. The lawmaker emphasized the urgent need for assistance, highlighting the growing desperation in the community.

Despite ongoing military operations and security reinforcements, bandit attacks have persisted in Katsina State, displacing thousands of people and disrupting economic activities. Meanwhile, in Sokoto State, several people, including security personnel, were reportedly killed and abducted in Sabon Birni Local Government Area following a series of bandit attacks.

The incidents underscore the need for sustained and coordinated action to dismantle armed groups and address the root causes of insecurity.
