Edo APC Chair Denies Viral AI-Generated Election Image

Jarret Teneb, the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated in an interview on AIT that a viral image depicting him as an election observer during the Ekiti State governorship election was created using artificial intelligence. He dismissed the image, asserting that he did not have accreditation from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to observe the election.

Teneb explained that his visit to Ekiti was misrepresented online and that he was part of a forum of APC state chairmen who agreed to support their colleagues during the off-cycle elections, but not in an official capacity as observers. He noted that the image was first circulated by former lawmaker Dino Melaye, whom he described as someone who enjoys creating political drama.

The Ekiti State governorship election took place on June 20, 2026, where the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the APC, was declared the winner by INEC.
