ADC Criticizes Tinubu Over Rising Petrol Prices in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the rising petrol prices, which have reportedly reached N1,470 per litre. The ADC stated that this increase is pushing Nigerians "dangerously close to the limits of human endurance," worsening the cost of living and making essentials like transportation, food, education, and electricity increasingly unaffordable.

In a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC accused the Tinubu administration of imposing excessive hardship through its economic policies. The party described the current petrol price as a "Tinubu Tax," asserting that the removal of fuel subsidies has led to increased costs across various sectors.

The ADC also noted that private school fees have risen by 30 to 40 percent, further straining families whose incomes have not increased correspondingly. The party emphasized that many families are now forced to make difficult choices, such as reducing food consumption and delaying medical treatment, while public officials allegedly maintain extravagant lifestyles.
