ADC Warns Tinubu on Rising Fuel Prices Impacting Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu regarding the rising fuel and food prices under his administration, stating that these increases are pushing Nigerians to their limits of endurance. In a statement by National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi on Tuesday, the ADC highlighted that petrol prices have reached N1,470 per litre, significantly raising the costs of transportation, food, electricity, education, and other essentials.

The ADC referred to this price as a “Tinubu Tax,” exacerbating the hardships faced by citizens. They reported that families are skipping meals, withdrawing children from school, and shutting down businesses due to financial strain.

The ADC noted that private schools have raised fees by 30 to 40 percent, while salaries have not increased correspondingly. They criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) government for failing to address these economic challenges.

The ADC's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has proposed restoring fuel subsidies to alleviate these burdens. The ADC stated that the upcoming 2027 election will present a choice between continuing Tinubu's policies or supporting their alternative economic program.
