ADC Warns Tinubu Over Rising Petrol Prices in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the escalating price of petrol, which has reportedly reached N1,470 per litre in certain areas. The ADC stated that this increase is intensifying the economic difficulties faced by Nigerians, directly affecting the costs of food, transportation, electricity, education, and other essential services.

In a statement from its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC highlighted that private schools have raised fees by 30 to 40 percent, further burdening parents whose incomes have not increased correspondingly. The ADC criticized the federal government's economic policies, asserting that reforms should not lead to increased hardship for citizens.

The party also indicated that families are making tough choices between basic needs, while businesses struggle with rising operational costs. The ADC linked the current economic situation to the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that Nigerians will have the chance to choose between the policies of the APC-led administration and the ADC's proposals, including a commitment from its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to reduce petrol costs through subsidy reintroduction.
