NADDC Launches CNG Skills Program for NYSC Members

The Nigerian Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), under the leadership of Director General Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, is driving a new skills acquisition program for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, focusing on compressed natural gas (CNG) technology. This initiative, which includes a memorandum of understanding signed on a Monday, aims to integrate CNG retrofitting and training into the NYSC's skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programs.

The initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's automotive alternative energy agenda, designed to equip youth with practical technical skills in CNG vehicle conversion, maintenance, and safety. Osanipin emphasized that the program represents a significant step toward building a skilled workforce capable of supporting Nigeria's transition to alternative fuels, especially following the removal of fuel subsidies.

The program will select corps members with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and auto mechanics for structured technical training and internship placements. NADDC is committed to providing technical support and ensuring the program's long-term sustainability.
