The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed deep concern over a Nigerian Air Force airstrike that occurred on a Saturday evening in Jilli Village, along the Borno-Yobe border, resulting in the deaths of no fewer than 30 people. The ACF's National Public Secretary, Tukur Muhammad Baba, described the incident as unfortunate and avoidable, highlighting that this is not the first time military operations have led to civilian casualties. The ACF criticized the military for a perceived lack of diligence in intelligence gathering and a careless attitude towards operations, which they believe contributes to repeated tragedies. They emphasized the need for accountability, calling for the federal government to take concrete steps beyond routine condemnations, including full compensation for victims' families and adequate medical care for the injured. The ACF also pointed out that without accountability, such tragic incidents are likely to continue, reinforcing a culture of impunity within military operations in Nigeria.
