NAF Airstrikes on ISWAP Stronghold in Borno State

On April 1, 2023, at 12:05 hours, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed airstrikes on a stronghold of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) located in Kangarwa, Northern Tumbun area of Borno State. This operation was part of the ongoing Hadin Kai counter-insurgency campaign and was based on credible intelligence that confirmed the presence of terrorists in the area.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam disclosed that the airstrikes were conducted following sustained surveillance and reconnaissance missions that revealed significant terrorist activity. The NAF executed precise strikes that resulted in the destruction of key infrastructure, including a logistics hub and operational shelters, effectively neutralizing scores of fighters and degrading the operational capabilities of the enclave.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sundai Anek, reaffirmed the NAF's commitment to conducting intelligence-driven strikes against terrorist hideouts, emphasizing the importance of sustained air campaigns in restoring peace and security in the region.
