NIMASA and NAF Collaborate for Maritime Security

On February 20, 2026, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), visited Air Marshal Sundai Kelvin Anek, the Chief of Air Staff, at the Nigerian Air Force headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting focused on strengthening air-maritime synergy to support Nigeria's deep blue project and advance the federal government's blue economy agenda. Dr.

Mobereola emphasized that maritime security is crucial for economic stability and international trade, highlighting Nigeria's achievement of zero piracy incidents in its territorial waters over the past four years. Air Marshal Anek assured NIMASA of the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to enhancing operational synergy, outlining the Air Force's capabilities, including long-range surveillance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The partnership aims to ensure aerial oversight and rapid response capabilities to protect maritime assets and support the deep blue project, ultimately contributing to economic growth and job creation in Nigeria.
