Air Power Vital for Nigeria's Maritime Security, Says Aneke

During a recent meeting in Abuja, Air Marshal Sundai Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Air Staff, asserted that air power is a decisive force multiplier in maritime security operations. He stated that air power offers speed, flexibility, and reach, significantly enhancing deterrence and enforcement capabilities in support of the Deep Blue Project.

This statement was made during a courtesy visit from Dr. Dayo Mobereola, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodam, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, highlighted the robust air capabilities tailored for maritime roles, including long-range surveillance aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Air Marshal Aneke emphasized the importance of real-time situational awareness and coordination to protect critical offshore infrastructure.

Dr. Mobereola reaffirmed that maritime security is fundamental to economic stability and investor confidence, noting the increasing volume of maritime traffic along Nigeria's coastal and inland waterways.
