Nigerian Air Force Achieves 6,100 Flying Hours in 2026

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported that between November 2025 and September 2026, it achieved over 6,100 flying hours and conducted more than 2,900 sorties, utilizing nearly 10 million litres of aviation fuel for various security operations. This information was disclosed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, in a statement released on a Sunday prior to the first anniversary of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, on October 30.
The operations included precision air strikes, armed reconnaissance, surveillance, and close air support aimed at weakening hostile groups and supporting ground troops. Ejodame emphasized that intelligence-led planning was crucial for these missions.
Under Aneke's transformation agenda, personnel welfare initiatives were introduced, including improved allowances and medical support. Additionally, 57 senior officers were promoted, and over 6,000 personnel received local training.
The NAF also received five new helicopters and is pursuing the acquisition of additional aircraft to enhance its capabilities.
