Nigerian Air Force Advances Recovery at Igbokoda Crash Site

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been conducting intensive recovery operations at the site of the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State, as operations entered day 14 on Sunday. A statement from the director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, indicated that continuous pumping has significantly reduced the water level at the crash site.
The recovery team is focused on removing the remaining water, depending on prevailing conditions. Ongoing reinforcement of the embankment with sandbags aims to prevent collapse and maintain stability during de-watering efforts.
Ejodame emphasized the complexity of the recovery mission, which requires sustained engineering and de-watering efforts. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the dedication of the recovery personnel and partner agencies, particularly Hitech Construction Company, for their support.
Aneke also expressed condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed NAF's commitment to completing the operation safely and supporting the ongoing aircraft crash investigation.
