NAFDAC Alerts Public About Falsified Gold Vision Oxytocin Injections, Health Risks Warned

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert regarding falsified Gold Vision Oxytocin injections in Nigeria. The agency discovered unregistered 10IU injections bearing fake NAFDAC registration numbers, manufactured by Anhui Hongye Pharmaceutical in China and marketed by Gold Vision Medicals in Enugu.

NAFDAC's investigation revealed three falsified injections, including Extocin and Claxitodin, carrying fake registration numbers. Using these unregistered and falsified oxytocin injections can pose serious health risks, such as ineffective uterine contractions, postpartum hemorrhage, and maternal death.

NAFDAC emphasized that these products do not appear in their registered product database, urging caution and adherence to registered pharmaceutical products for safety.
