NAFDAC Warns Nigerians of Fake Artemetrin DS and Ciprofit 500 Drugs

NAFDAC issued a warning about fake Artemetrin DS and Ciprofit 500 drugs circulating in Nigeria on September 18. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control revealed that laboratory tests confirmed these counterfeit drugs to be substandard and ineffective.

The falsified Artemetrin DS, claimed to be manufactured by Drugs Ltd Enugu, and fake Ciprofit 500, supposedly produced by Impact Pharmaceutical Ltd, were found to contain incorrect active ingredients. NAFDAC cautioned against using these products as they could lead to treatment failure, drug resistance, or severe complications.

Nigerians were urged to report any suspicious medicines and seek immediate medical attention if they had used them.
