NAFDAC Declares Deleject Needles Safe After Investigation

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has declared Deleject Disposable Needles safe for use following an investigation into a complaint about whitish particulate matter in one batch. NAFDAC stated there is no evidence of any manufacturing defect or safety risk associated with the products currently in circulation.

The agency clarified that its Public Alert No. 042/2026 regarding Deleject Disposable Needles, Batch No. 240605, was published in error and should be disregarded. Bitrus Fraden, Director of Post-Marketing Surveillance at NAFDAC, disclosed this information at a press briefing.

The complaint originated from pharmacist Jiyah Dadi, who purchased the affected needles from Zagbayi Pharmacy in Kaduna. NAFDAC traced the product through the distribution chain to the manufacturer, HMA, where an investigation confirmed compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Fraden emphasized that the agency's findings did not indicate any manufacturing faults and noted that issues could arise during transportation or storage.
