NAFDAC Declares Deleject Needles Safe After Investigation

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) announced that Deleject Disposable Needles are safe after an investigation into Public Alert No. 042/2026, which had raised concerns about batch 240605. NAFDAC’s Director of Post Marketing Surveillance, Bitrus Fraden, stated at a press conference in Abuja that the alert was uploaded in error and urged the public to disregard it.

The complaint originated from Jiyah Dadi, a pharmacist in Kaduna, regarding a product purchased from a local pharmacy. Following an investigation into the manufacturing company, HMA, NAFDAC found no violations of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.

Fraden noted that the issue might have stemmed from a supply chain challenge rather than a manufacturing defect. He confirmed that there are currently no quality, safety, or regulatory issues with Deleject products in the market, assuring healthcare providers and the public of their safety and quality.

NAFDAC expressed regret over the erroneous alert and emphasized its commitment to product surveillance.
