NAFDAC Confirms Deleject Syringes Safe After Review

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has declared Deleject Disposable Needles safe for use following an investigation into a complaint about particulate matter in a specific batch. The complaint was lodged by pharmacist Jiyah Dadi from Kaduna after purchasing the affected syringes from Zagbayi Pharmacy.

NAFDAC's Director of Post Marketing Surveillance, Bitrus Fraden, stated that the investigation revealed no evidence of manufacturing defects or safety risks associated with the products in circulation. The agency traced the product through the distribution chain to the manufacturer, HMA, and confirmed that all manufacturing procedures were followed.

Furthermore, NAFDAC conducted nationwide surveillance of Deleject Disposable Needles and found no similar complaints elsewhere. The agency acted cautiously by mopping up the affected products after the complaint, emphasizing the importance of safety over potential risks.

An earlier public alert regarding the product was published in error and should be disregarded.
