NAFDAC Urges Nigerians to Avoid Unregistered Food Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), under the leadership of Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has urged Nigerians to avoid unregistered food products. This appeal was made during the agency's observance of the 2026 World Food Safety Day in Lagos, where Adeyeye stressed that safe food is a fundamental human right and essential for public health.

She noted that achieving food safety requires collective action from the government, food industry, and consumers. The theme for the 2026 celebration is "Burden and Solutions: Safe Food Everywhere," which aims to tackle foodborne diseases and strengthen Nigeria's food safety system.

Adeyeye highlighted the importance of a robust regulatory framework and the need for consumers to remain vigilant against unsafe food products. She also pointed out that unsafe food contributes to public health burdens, food insecurity, and economic losses.

NAFDAC continues to enhance regulatory systems and public awareness to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
