NAFDAC Warns Public Against Counterfeit Cowbell Milk In Nigeria

NAFDAC has issued a warning to the public in Nigeria about the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell Milk 12g sachets. The agency stated that Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, the Marketing Authorization Holder and Manufacturer of Cowbell, ceased production of Cowbell Milk in September 2023 and replaced it with Cowbell Creamy Goodness.

The counterfeit product currently in circulation imitates the discontinued milk packaging and is being manufactured and distributed by unauthorized sources. NAFDAC emphasized the health risks associated with consuming counterfeit milk, including exposure to toxic chemicals, unapproved additives, diluted ingredients, and the potential for foodborne illnesses, allergic reactions, organ damage, and even death.

Infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. The agency urged healthcare professionals and consumers to report any suspicions of substandard or counterfeit food products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
