NAFDAC Tasks Nursing Mothers On Breastfeeding

NAFDAC has urged nursing mothers and pregnant women to adhere to the International Code of Breastfeeding to ensure the healthy growth and development of their children. Professor Mojisola Adeyeye delivered this message during the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing breastfeeding and creating sustainable support systems.

Adeyeye highlighted the vital link between breastfeeding and environmental sustainability, noting its role in child survival, development, and mental health. NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing compliance with the International Code on Marketing Breastmilk Substitutes and promoting breastfeeding as superior to substitutes.

As part of the World Breastfeeding Week activities, NAFDAC's BMS team visited key maternity homes and healthcare centers in Ibadan, Oyo State, to educate pregnant women and nursing mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding and the risks associated with breastmilk substitutes. The visit was deemed a success, with interactive sessions allowing for questions and discussions on the topic.
