Bala: No Leadership for ADC Members Over 55 Years

Nafiu Bala, a leader within the ADC, declared in a BBC Hausa Service interview that anyone above the age of 55 is not eligible to contest for leadership positions within the party. He stressed the importance of following the proper constitutional procedures and highlighted that the party cannot arbitrarily confer leadership roles.

Bala pointed out that the ADC's constitution clearly outlines the requirements for membership and leadership eligibility, specifically in Article 9. He criticized individuals who claim leadership without proper registration and adherence to due process.

Bala also addressed recent party gatherings, clarifying that his attendance should not be misconstrued as an endorsement of any faction, particularly that of David Mark. He mentioned ongoing legal processes regarding leadership claims within the party, asserting that rival claims have been dismissed by the judiciary, which has already ruled on an appeal case with a fine of N2 million against the appellants.

Bala remains focused on preparing for upcoming elections to secure victories for the ADC.
