Nafiu Bala at the Center of ADC Leadership Crisis
• Naijanews • Politics
Nafiu Bala, a 35-year-old politician from Nassarawo Ward in Gombe State, has gained attention due to a leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Bala's political journey began with the defunct Democratic People Party and later included the People Redemption Party before joining the ADC. He contested the 2023 Gombe State governorship election but was defeated by Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress. Following the election, Bala has pursued legal challenges against the results, which has brought him into conflict with other party members, including Mustapha Hadi. Bala claims that there are internal disagreements within the ADC regarding its leadership structure and processes. He has also dismissed allegations that factions within the ADC are being sponsored by the APC to disrupt the party's coalition plans, labeling these accusations as baseless. Bala asserts that he has been a member of the ADC for ten years and has taken on the role of acting national chairman following Ralph Nwosu's resignation.
