Court to Hear ADC Leadership Dispute on May 8, 2026

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed May 8, 2026, to hear a suit filed by Nafiu Bala against former Senate President David Mark and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The case, marked as FHC/ABJ/1819/2025, is presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite.

Bala's legal team, led by Luka Haruna, SAN, has requested an expedited hearing, citing a letter dated May 5, 2026. The court has been informed of an interlocutory appeal filed by David Mark, which was dismissed by the Supreme Court on April 30, 2026.

Bala, who is the former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, is seeking a court order to restrain Mark and others, including Rauf Aregbesola, from presenting themselves as legitimate leaders of the party. The matter was previously adjourned indefinitely pending the outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings.
