NAHCON Clarifies Hajj 2026 Slot Adjustments and Reforms

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued clarifications regarding the adjustments to the Hajj 2026 slots and the operational reforms being implemented. Ambassador Ismail Yusuf Abba, the chairman and CEO of NAHCON, stated that the adjustments are a result of global allocation decisions made by the Saudi Hajj authorities and not unilateral actions by NAHCON.

The commission emphasized that it does not have the authority to independently increase or alter the approved quota for Nigerian pilgrims. NAHCON will intensify its performance monitoring mechanisms and apply appropriate sanctions for any violations, which may include the suspension or revocation of licenses.

The commission aims to ensure compliance within the Hajj and Umrah industries and has urged stakeholders and the public to disregard misinformation regarding the allocation process.
