Nigerian Naira Exits Top 10 Worst Currency Rankings After 2 Years, Appreciates Against Dollar

The Nigerian Naira has shown a modest gain against the US Dollar, exiting Africa's worst currency rankings after nearly two years. The currency appreciated to N1,430 against the Dollar, with the Central Bank of Nigeria attributing this improvement to enhanced external reserves and policy reforms.

Data analysis revealed the Naira traded at N1,436 per Dollar by December 31, positioning it among Africa's 15th to 20th weakest currencies. Nigeria's external reserves rose to $45.48 billion by December 30, 2025, the highest level in six years.

This positive performance is expected to continue in 2026.
