NANS Honors Umahi as Grand Patron for Infrastructure Efforts

On August 10, 2026, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) conferred the title of Grand Patron upon Sen. Engr. David Umahi, the Honourable Minister of Works, in recognition of his significant contributions to road infrastructure development in Nigeria. This honor was presented during a courtesy visit by NANS leadership, led by Global President Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, to the Federal Ministry of Works in Mabushi, Abuja.

Minister Umahi expressed gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging NANS as a vital representation of Nigeria's current and future leadership. He urged Nigerian students to engage actively in national issues, advocating for informed positions based on facts.

Umahi also discussed major road infrastructure projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Expressway and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, emphasizing their roles in enhancing connectivity and economic growth. He mentioned ongoing initiatives like solar-powered street lighting along highways to improve safety and aesthetics.
