Awoyinfa Opeoluwa Promises Student-Centered NANS Leadership

Awoyinfa Opeoluwa, popularly known as Opiano, has announced his candidacy for the presidency of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), pledging a student-centered leadership approach. He made this commitment during a successful completion of a mandatory screening exercise conducted by an independent committee in Abuja on Saturday.

Opeoluwa, a PhD student at the Federal University of Technology Akure, presented his credentials to the screening sub-committee, reaffirming his eligibility for the race. Following the screening, he described the outcome as significant for the future of the student body, marking a personal victory and a step closer to revitalizing NANS.

His campaign slogan, "Vox Populi, Vox Dei," outlines his priorities, which include ending factionalism, restoring unity within the student body, prioritizing welfare advocacy, addressing tuition hikes, and improving campus living conditions. The NANS convention is scheduled to take place from May 20 to May 27, 2026, where new leadership is expected to be elected.
