NAPTIP Arrests 120 Suspected Traffickers in Ondo State

The Ondo State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested at least 120 suspected human traffickers in the state over the last three years. Since commencing operations in Ondo State in November 2023, NAPTIP has rescued more than 300 victims, both locally and internationally.

State Commander Taiwo Adegboyega announced these figures during a program in Akure on the occasion of the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. He indicated that several suspects are currently facing prosecution, with some convictions already secured.

Adegboyega highlighted the agency's collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Immigration Service in combating human trafficking. He noted that some suspects were operating as unregistered travel agents.

Franklin Oloniju from the Civil Society Organisation Network on Migration and Development urged the Ondo State Government to appoint a Special Adviser on Migration to better support returning indigenes.
