NAPTIP and ICMPD Educate 40,000 Ogun Students on Trafficking

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) have launched an initiative to sensitize 40,000 students across 32 selected secondary schools in Ogun State about the dangers of human trafficking. This project, part of an anti-trafficking educational advocacy effort, has so far reached 30 schools.

Binta Bello, the Director General of NAPTIP, emphasized the need for public awareness and a crackdown on human trafficking. Bose Jimoh, representing NAPTIP, warned students about the risks of falling victim to trafficking through fake job offers and deceptive recruitment tactics.

The Vanguard Club, established to create a safe learning environment, aims to empower students as peer educators against human trafficking. The project, which is in its third phase, will cover additional schools and strengthen the educational system by training teachers and improving infrastructure.
