NAPTIP Rescues 202 Trafficking Victims in Katsina State

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) reported the rescue of 202 victims of human trafficking in Katsina State between January and July 2026. This figure includes 147 females and 55 males.

Musa Aliyu, the Katsina State Commander of NAPTIP, disclosed this information while commemorating the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30. The event aimed to educate the public about the dangers of human trafficking and to encourage collective action against the crime.

NAPTIP conducted various public enlightenment programs, including radio discussions, television interviews, and a road walk to raise awareness. Aliyu highlighted the role of transport operators as strategic partners in identifying trafficking victims and suspects.

He expressed concern over the rising trend of internal trafficking in Katsina, noting that it has become more prevalent than international trafficking. The agency urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspected trafficking cases, emphasizing that combating human trafficking is a collective responsibility.
