NARD Threatens Nationwide Action Over Queries to Doctors

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a warning of potential nationwide industrial action if the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration does not retract queries directed at members of the Executive Council of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), FCT chapter. In a statement signed by President Dr. Mohammad Usman Suleiman, Secretary-General Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim, and Publicity and Social Secretary Dr. Abdulmajid Yahya Ibrahim, NARD accused the FCT authorities of victimizing the doctors for relaying the national body's stance on a planned industrial action set to begin on August 10.

NARD described the queries as “unwarranted and unacceptable victimisation,” asserting that the affected doctors were fulfilling their duties as elected representatives. The association called for intervention from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and demanded the withdrawal of the queries, warning that failure to comply would lead to a national protest in Abuja, followed by industrial action.

NARD emphasized that it would protect its members' rights and interests through lawful means.
